A hospital stock is one that I recommend in lieu of medical insurance because I've seen the benefits of being a shareholder with my own parent. My mom has a HMO but the service and coverage are very poor, so we are very thankful we were able to get a share in the hospital near our residence. For her age, the profit sharing/dividends is just secondary. She is able to really make the most out of the discount for the medical services.
